Real Agrado - Pioneer of single vineyard wines

Single-vineyard wines are still rare in Rioja. We are all the more proud to have Real Agrado, the pioneer of this new generation of Roja, in our range.

The hacienda only uses grapes from its own vineyards, which are officially labelled "Viñedos en propiedad", for its wines - unfortunately, this is still a rarity in Rioja. Nevertheless, Real Agrado offers a total of five single-vineyard wines: "Las Planas", "Canterabuey", "La Lobera", "Rodiles" and "Eralena".

They are divided into three categories:

  • They come from a single vineyard and bear the name of the vineyard.
  • The vines are owned by the Hacienda Real Agrado.
  • The plant consists of bush vines with a very low yield.
  • The harvest is carried out manually.
  • Only grapes from the oldest vines are used in the production of the wines, following strict selection.

"Viñedo Singular"

With the single-vineyard Rioja Canterabuey, Real Agrado goes one step further and is one of the first haciendas to fulfil the newly created criteria of the Cosejo Regulador, a new quality level in Rioja: Viñedo Singular

Even stricter criteria must be met for this:

  • The wine must come from a single vineyard and bear its name.
  • The vines must be planted in a traditional bush culture that does not allow mechanical harvesting.
  • They must also be at least 35 years old and cultivated sustainably.
  • The yield per hectare is limited to 3500 bottles

"Viñedo Centenario"

However, the highlight of Real Agrado's range is undoubtedly the Rioja Gran Reserva Eralena, the bodega's flagship wine. Eralena is one of the few and first wines to be allowed to bear the new, also protected designation "Viñedo Centenario" - a designation that can only be used for wines that are proven to come from vines over 100 years old. It is a wine of unprecedented dimensions, hard to beat in terms of complexity.
